Business owners often look to astrology for the ‘perfect timing,’ but I see the same pitfalls come up again and again. Here are six common mistakes — and what to do instead.” 1. Believing every New Moon is the perfect time to start a project No two New Moons are the same, especially when we get into your personal astrology. Some New Moons are partial eclipses and some will be influenced by planets that are more positive or negative for you. Treating every New Moon as an opportunity to reset your business or come out with an offer is only exhausting and not always aligned. Focus on planning or mapping your offers during the New Moon that is in the sign of your 10th house. The energy of that sign is more focused for your public life and how you present yourself. The Full Moon in the same sign is best for you to experience full circle moments around your business and release old goals. It is the First Quarter Moon in the sign of your 10th that can be really powerful for showcasing your work. My biggest tip is to work with an astrologer to map your Moon Cycle activations so that you can identify which are most aligned with your business goals. (see #3 for another example why the Moon Transits are not always the most reliable for business) 2. Launching during a Retrograde without a game plan. You have heard of Mercury Retrograde but the truth is that ALL of the planets retrograde and we often only have 4 months out of the year where there are no retrogrades happening. This is a small window of time for business owners to plan their launches and expect success. So, instead of planning for NO retrogrades you must be prepared and know how to plan FOR and DURING the retrogrades, for example: Mercury RX - Expect revisions, communication errors and tech glitches- plan ahead. Venus RX - Expect some discomfort with your branding, how you come off, visibility may be inconsistent - prepare your vision ahead of time and commit to it. Mars RX - Motivation will be up and down here - these periods are best for fully automated launches and passive income so that you can reset your physical and mental energy. 3. Expecting fast growth just because your Moon sign’s 10th house is activated This is a mistake I made recently. When I experience 10th house activations I am so motivated and productive so I planned to launch an offer aduring my Moon signs 10th House activation. My launch was not as successful as I would have liked and I was emotional about multiple life events at this time. Luckily for me I was actually experimenting with my experiences of the transits and signs and wanted to observe what would occur. I had to keep reminding myself that my main goal was to experiment with my predictions and that this time would still be well spent. Bottom Line - expect the unexpected when your Moon's 10th house is activated, Plan not for obvious success but a deeper emotional awareness of how you FEEL about your work. The Moon supports setting foundations for you to build off of but is fluctuating and reactive. Emotions can be up and down during this time. Learn from my mistakes here and plan for growth relating to your work FUNCTIONS not necessarily scaling or launching. When your Sun or Rising Signs 10th house is activated, business comes to you more naturally. These are excellent times to plan to be seen and launched, however timing is best when you work in alignment with the transit of a planet from your 9th to 10th house to provide more time for you to expand your audience and be seen. Curious how this plays out in your own chart? That’s exactly what we can explore in a session together — just write ‘business astrology’ in your booking form.” 4. Assuming a Jupiter transit guarantees instant success
Jupiter expands whatever it touches, but expansion without structure can mean overcommitting, overspending, or saying yes to the wrong opportunities. When Jupiter is well placed I welcome everyone to think about the most positive outcome possible. A positive attitude can attract the right opportunities to you and with Jupiter ruling Sagittarius and Pisces I associate its energy directly with the work of spiritual entrepreneurs. Jupiter stations into a new sign every 18 months or so - reviewing what life area it interacts with for you can help you understand where you are being called to observe success during this time and what other areas will need more discernment or attention. To work with Jupiter right, be familiar with your boundaries so that you know when you are about to tip the scales into over indulgence. Right now, Jupiter is in my Natal 5th house (Creativity, Joy) and is encouraging me to embrace my creative projects deeper. While my mind is full of ideas, I still need to dedicate the time to transform those ideas into articles, writing and whatever else I am up to. I know I will reap the most benefits of this transit by pushing myself to spend time on my creative outlets and not expect perfection right away. 5. Misreading Saturn transits as purely negative Saturn gets a bad reputation as a planet of authority and structure in our life. The first 30 years of our lives are spent working within a structure that keeps us safe and as Saturn's movements influence us it asks us to break away from the norm - this is always overwhelming and full of big life moves which is why so many people hate Saturn transits! If you treat every Saturn activation as a personal shake up creating an upheaval or delay, you might miss the long-term foundations it’s asking you to take action towards and build. Saturn reveals truths about where true sustainable growth comes from. Saturn is currently moving between my 1st and 2nd houses - this has brought up a lot of new beginnings in my Career and business that have led to new values and of course, financial growth. 6. Ignoring your profection year themes If you have ever worked with me, you know I love this technique - Profections! Yes. I spelled that right. Profections is a Hellenistic timing technique and Annual Profections help us determine the House and Planet of our Solar year! This energy builds and reaches milestones throughout your 3rd, 6th, 9th, and 12th months of your year. If you’re in, say, a 12th house year (spirituality, rest, retreat, behind-the-scenes work) and you push for high visibility, you might burn out or struggle with alignment. If you are in a 1st or 10th house year you may be more visible, a 6th house year more focused on DOING your work, and 8th house year more focused on transforming your work. By applying these kind of insights to your Business you will align yourself to the energy that is naturally coming your way. This is also a great way to maintain balance and observe your business in a longer cycle than just annually but a 12 year cycle. This mistake is my favourite because it shows how much long-term alignment matters in business. I have been using profections in all of my life areas for years and they never cease to be relevant! If you’re ready to discover your profection year themes — and avoid these pitfalls in your own career — book a call with me and write ‘business astrology’ in your booking form.

I have been wanting to share my experience with the 2024 eclipse cycle and how it has shown up in my life since I wrote these two articles: Eclipse Season and Astro-Anxiety I Thought Something Bad Would Happen To Me on the Eclipse I remember the eclipse vividly. It was a total solar eclipse so everyone was figuring out how to purchase the special glasses to view it. I was travelling on a coach bus from toronto to ottawa while the eclipse was happening and I remember leading up to it I had so much anxiety because it was activating my 8th and 9th houses - I had fears around be dying while traveling the part of my brain that was still a young astrologer kept saying that is what the house of death and travel together would be right? I Kept telling myself that this will be a lesson in the subtleties of astrology because I am not letting anything bad happen to me. And I was right. In the moment I recall being disappointed that no big life changing event happened to me directly or indirectly. I kept checking the chart of the moment and imagining scenarios of people messaging me dramatic things occurring. I was listening to the rent soundtrack - because I had just seen one of my best friends perform in the chorus in a GTA production of the play. And I noticed multiple things in the lyrics that I never noticed before in the lyrics of Santa Fe. This song was a family favourite, I have memories of my siblings singing along to it on repeat when we were younger - i had never really liked the song because it was about moving away and that made me sad. This was the first time I really could say I was getting into the tune. After multiple replays I noticed two lyrics.
This was my Eclipse Moment As I said earlier- the eclipse was hitting my 8th and 9th house - houses of death and travel but also houses of research, resources, higher education, and philosophy. My Moon is also housed here suggesting specific emotional experiences.
I remember asking myself - what does this small moment mean? Should I go back to school and study philosophy? But no, eclipse moments do not have to be an immediate major life decision. It was actually just the small things I changed because of that day that really had an impact. I started listening to Philosophize This, a podcast on covering everything philosophy from its earliest days to modern times and I still haven't listened to all of its episodes but this regular reminder to connect with philosophy helped me mature my astrological practice like I had wanted. Looking back on it now it reminds me of scenes in movies where the average main character expects to get the attention of the hottest guy at the school dance but gets completely ignored. However, a promising genuine interaction with another average cutie promises a new beginning. I wanted the drama, a big moment during that eclipse, but was grateful for the more subtle shift which was one I was truly aligned with. This meet-cute of mine with philosophy on the eclipse in Sagittarius has cemented a large part of my beliefs today in and out of my astrology practice. I will share more later but here are the big ones. 1. There is so much power in the small moments. Astrology can help us acknowledge these deeply. 2. Knowledge truly is Power. Educating yourself is the best thing you can do. 3. Your Point of View - Your Personal Philosophy dictates how you interact with the world. It is important to check in with your self regularly to understand your version of truth. Your Birthday is More Than a Milestone
It’s a cosmic reset—a powerful energetic checkpoint. After eight years of working deeply with astrology, I’ve developed a birthday ritual rooted in reflection, intention setting, and what I like to call self-celebration. Here’s how I align with the stars each year: 1. Work with Your Profections This ancient Hellenistic technique is my favorite birthday tool. It gives you a clear theme for the year ahead by showing which house and planet rule your solar year. Before my birthday, I reflect on the house I’m wrapping up—what I’ve learned, what’s shifting. Then, I look at the new house and ruling planet I’m stepping into. For example, I’m entering a 7th House year ruled by Virgo/Mercury. So I’ve been laying groundwork in partnerships, improving communication, and checking in with my partner. (I break this down more in the video.) 2. Review Significant Transits Take a look at where the outer planets are in relation to your natal chart. If they’re four or five signs away from key placements, you’re likely experiencing major transitions. In the video, I share how my Saturn Return and Uranus transits brought unexpected changes and breakthroughs. Reflecting on these helps me mentally and emotionally integrate what I’ve been through—and ask the most important question: What is ready to shift or move forward? 3. Study Your Solar Return Charts Your Solar Return chart is a snapshot of the sky when the Sun returns to your natal degree. Comparing last year’s themes with the upcoming chart can reveal powerful patterns and invitations for growth. Last year, Aries energy dominated my chart—fueling action, leadership, and a need to reflect on how I impact others. I took bold steps in my goals and learned a lot in the process. This year, my chart hints at stepping into a more emotional or nurturing role. (Could motherhood be in the cards? We’ll see!) You’ll also hear me discuss how the Aries themes are shifting from personal to professional—especially in relation to my career path. 4. Align with Upcoming Transits Awareness = empowerment. Look ahead at key transits in the coming months and set supportive goals. Know when to expect challenges, opportunities for growth, and when the cosmos is giving you a green light for rest, communication, or decisive action. Final Thoughts Your Solar Year deserves reflection. It’s an invitation to align with your purpose, recognize how far you’ve come, and step into your next chapter with awareness and intention. If you want support navigating your new year, mention you would like a Solar Return Reading with me—I’d love to explore it with you! Venus and Mercury Early February we have two planets moving into new signs whose retrograde cycles mirror each other. Understanding the similarities and differences of these transits can help us become aware of what life areas we need to practise patience and neutrality. Venus and Mercury are the two planets involved and their movement through Pisces and Aries is significant. These two zodiac signs represent the ending and beginning of cycles, the constant death and rebirth of life, patterns and ideas themselves. With the energies of Venus representing beauty, balance and ease and Mercury representing logic, messages and neutrality we can examine how our thoughts are shifting to align better with our goals and ideals. To me, the energy feels like healing after undergoing a process where your brain has been re-wired and you are experiencing things with new eyes or senses. This Venus/Mercury cycle begins with Venus ahead of Mercury then ends with Mercury ahead of Venus. In the chart below, which identifies the different stations during this cycle the Leading Planet is identified in Green. They reach their closest conjunction to each other at the end of March/first week of April and Mercury begins to supersede in degrees. Significance of the Retrogrades From these dates and transits we can see that From January - March we are leading with pleasure and creating balance (keep in Mind Mars is retrograde and in a water sign during most of this so some of our actions and motivations may be more emotional or personal). Venus entering Aries in February can spark sudden urges and needs for comfort or change, at this time people may need to be careful with their money or over indulging. The Retrograde that follows a month later will shine a light on any bad habits or misplaced energy. The Action we put in is for the greater good but will likely be a shock to our senses, good or bad. Mercury coming in to conjunction with Venus also in retrograde at the end of March allows us to rethink our choices and perhaps change some of the patterns we created out of emotionally driven comfort in January. March is a time to be careful with your words which is why I wrote about patience and Neutrality earlier in the article. These patterns in the sky provide us with an opportunity to practice patience, and take a more neutral look at life until things have calmed down or energy has shifted (aka, the planets stationing direct in the Springtime). There is also going to be a challenge for others to take accountability in their lives, that is what Aries stands for - not only being a self starter but having a strong self awareness and understanding when you were operating out of a selfish part of yourself or out of self preservation. During these retrogrades we may be asked to hold ourselves accountable so that we can mend relationships with others. Don't Forget About Saturn There is additional significance to this cycle because Saturn is currently in Pisces. Venus and Mercury conjunct to Saturn prior to their retrogrades and again after their retrogrades at different degrees. I have laid out these degrees and dates below: Saturn is the planet of authority, structure and responsibility. Its presence adds additional energy to what I discussed above. It is pretty cool to see this cycle begin in January. With Venus and Saturn being the sole planets in Pisces for the first month of the year, it suggests we kicked off 2025 with a mixture of karma and balance as Saturn works hard to bring in order re-tracing its steps since it went retrograde in the Fall. January 18th brought an exact conjunction of the two planets and it would be helpful for people to reflect on what responsibilities they feel they are ready and willing to take on around this time. People may also gain greater emotional awareness or meaning to their goals which helps them find the motivation and urgency to take action or find patience within themselves to stay consistent. We can look forward to Mercury entering Pisces in February and retracing the steps of Venus here - Mercury is the planet of communication and logic so we can expect our brains to catch up to our feelings and perhaps have more mental clarity or information to take some of the actions we are hoping to take. Mercury's presence in Pisces in February also suggests that it is a potent time for creatives and people who may be channelling messages or working with their spirituality. While Mercury is in Pisces however, Venus has already moved into Aries and this pattern emphasizes the emotion, passion and creativity that may be superseding logic and order. If you are working on projects and feel guilty that you do not have a plan or structure you may just need to flow and practice being in the chaos until Mercury catches up and helps your energy create the right structure for you. Be patient but do not put your goals on hold for the fear of being messy or disorganized. The Retrogrades themselves are the perfect time for you to examine your mistakes, discomforts and perhaps make a few more mistakes so that you can correct them and gain a deeper understanding of what works for you. This is where you should use the attached chart and journal a bit or at least thing through what you are experiencing (AKA re-read this article in a month or two haha). These retrogrades are particularly powerful as they occur in Pisces and Aries. In astrology we use Pisces and Aries to indicate the ending and beginning of cycles, or progression of a cycle and an opportunity to “level up”, be reborn into an elevated version of yourself, your goals or the responsibilities you are willing to take on. Consider how this is occurring during those retrogrades. *envision a personal montage happening 90s movie style*. No change can come without acknowledgement of what does not work and that is where Pisces' influence comes in, letting go is tough and it is hard for us to release old patterns when we have no control of other people whose actions or influence may still be aligned with the older way of being. This leads to feelings of chaos and confusion. Throughout the Piscean retrograde you need to keep the faith and understand that you are in the middle of a transformation process so things are allowed to look confusing especially with mercury's involvement which has that subconscious influence of your brain being rewired. Do your best to observe your feelings and be present with others but maintain your new boundaries and do not let others influence you as you wade through this period of transformation. Reflection Template: Consider where Aries and Pisces show up in your astrology. For any of your placements look at what houses are influenced. In the Chart below the Numbers represent the astrological houses activated for your sign Use the table above to identify what life areas Pisces and Aries are influencing according to your signs. In this example I am using my Sun sign in Leo Ask your self the following:
How am I progressing in these life areas? What Mistakes or disappointments have occurred? How can I practice patience or allow more balance and harmony in these life areas right now? How do I need logic or my brain to catch up to my feelings? How have things changed after April 7th & April 16th (this is when the planets stationed direct or entered aries again) What actions am I willing to take to make these changes? I was thrilled by the overwhelming response to my initial call for interviews. In these conversations, I explored participants' life experiences, behaviours, and personal perspectives. The first topic I want to delve into is Communication.
Through these interviews and my subsequent analysis, I discovered that whether participants practiced astrology or not, their self-described communication styles closely aligned with key astrological placements—particularly their Mercury sign and the placement of the ruler of their third house. Additionally, those with strong water elements or lunar sect charts showed notable correlations with their Moon sign’s influence over their third house, emphasizing the emotional nuances in their communication. TLDR; Summary of Key Findings:
Mercury Mercury’s placement in the participants’ natal charts significantly shapes how they approach communication:
Here are brief examples of what was examined. Participant P01:
Half of our participants had Mercury in close conjunction with other planets, this was shown to have an impact on their intperprestions. Because we only had a small sample of participants we currently do not have the data to discuss the differences between those with Mercury alone in a Sign and those with MErcury in close conjunction to a planet in the same sign. Such as examining multiple people who have mercury in sagittarius as well as multiple people who have mercury conjunction mars or another planet in the sagittarius. To help us collect more data volunteer for an interview or share with your friends!! Lord of the 3rd What is a lord of the house? When we say "the Lord of the 3rd house," it means we're talking about the planet that rules the zodiac sign on the 3rd house cusp of a person's chart. This planet (the "Lord") influences the themes of that house. So, if the 3rd house (which governs communication) has Gemini on its cusp, then Mercury—the ruler of Gemini—is the Lord of the 3rd house. The planetary ruler of the third house plays a significant role in shaping how these participants communicate, highlighting different nuances like depth, expressiveness, and directness that align closely with their self-described styles and how they interact with the world around them. Participant P06
Lunar Chart What is a lunar chart? In my astrological practice, I look at three types of charts. Natal, Solar and Lunar. Natal charts are when the first house begins at the sign of your Rising sign, Solar charts begging with the sign of your Sun and Lunar with the Moon sign. Examining astrology in this way has allowed me to gain more clarity of my client's lived experience and also reveals other nuances to personality traits and thoughts. This is not to be confused with Lunar Sect Read more about Sect here: In my research, I call on the assistance of Solar and Lunar charts to confirm other statements from our volunteers that did not align with simply examining the Natal Chart or see if they add any information that was not shared. To begin I noticed that I needed more assistance in my analysis with the 5 members who did not have conjunctions to their mercury plancement. Those 5 are the ones I chose to focus on for my first lunar chart analysis. Analysis of Participants Without a Mercury Conjunction and Their Lunar Third House: Participant P03
What A Ride! So, to conclude this first article our research so far supports the fact that astrology offers profound insights into how individuals communicate. The role of Mercury (to no ones surprise), was evident in shaping participants' directness, adaptability, or emotional nuances, especially when combined with the ruling planet of their third house. Participants without Mercury conjunctions showcased a purer expression of their lunar third house influences, highlighting the emotional subtleties that guide their communication. Ultimately, whether through the Mercury sign, the ruling planet of the third house, or lunar insights, each person's way of connecting with others is deeply influenced by their cosmic blueprint. This analysis is just the beginning, inviting more exploration into the intricate connections between astrology and our everyday behaviors—particularly, how we relate, share, and express ourselves. I can not wait to conduct more interviews to expanding this research and welcome more voices to share their stories and enrich our astrological understanding. If you are interested in voluntering your time to be interviewed you can book your call here. |
